The resurrection of Christ is what Easter is all about also making it the most essential of all Christian holy days. However, in the present day the meaning of the holiday is masked by dyed eggs and bunnies. Easter can fall at any time between March 22 and April 25 since is occurs the first Sunday following the full moon. Easter is also related to the Jewish Passover in symbolism and it’s location in the calendar. What’s with Rabbits and eggs and Easter? Well the rabbit is a well know sexual image of fertility. Religions affiliated with Babel relate the rabbit with periodicity, both human and lunar. The Mother Goddess Semiramis (Easter) is linked with the moon. ]Therefore, the Easter rabbit symbolizes the Mother Goddess and is linked with once a year Spring time fertility rituals worshiping the Mother Goddess. Colored Easter eggs are a part of the activities too that came from the egg which was a sacred symbol among the Babylonians. They assumed that a fantastic size egg fell from heaven into the Euphrates River from which the Goddess Semiramis was hatched. It makes you wonder how many of us honestly think about the actual meaning of this holiday apart from the resurrection of Jesus Christ. It has expanded to be another retail holiday and over commercialized. However, it is a time for families to join and celebrate the day. Kids love Easter for the Easter Baskets, candy and most of all the Easter egg hunt which could take on a life of it’s own.
